Hello everyone!

As Natural Selection 2 is available on Linux as well, I thought I'd give it a try.

Sadly I couldn't get it to work so far, here is what happens:
Game update: AppID 4920 "Natural Selection 2", ProcID 5743, IP 0.0.0.0:0

(Note: I removed many duplicates of the GLIB-WARNING for better readability)

So, I use Gnome 3 or Cinnamon 2 mostly, running on Archlinux with newest Kernel 3.11 and a Radeon 6950HD on the Open Source Drivers.
(Interestingly the proprietary Catalyst-Drivers give a *much* worse performance than the open source ones in all my other games)

Apart from Natural Selection 2, all my Linux-Games run absolutely fine.

If anybody has an idea on a possible solution, please let me know.

Thanks ahead!

Kindest regards,
Ceron_P72

so, that's the steam console output, any chance you can post the log from ~/.config/Natural Selection 2/log.txt

Also, have you checked out the linux guide

@Ceron_P72 Yeah, that 'unable to locate 'adwaita' thing is because steam statically links to an older gtk2 library that doesn't support some of the newer theming calls. It probably isn't the cause of your issue.

    **edit**

Just noticed you are using the open source driver. Sorry dude.

Yeah, they are reimplementing the engine to target 3.1 core profile, but until that is done none of the Gallium3D or MESA based drivers are going to work.

    Thanks.

As I won't change to the proprietary drivers that means to boot into windows for NS 2... not thaaaat big of a deal, but still, in the long run I'll dump windows completely.
